Lydcare (formerly Lydbrook Community Care) is a registered Charity whose aim is to identify and develop resources that will enable older people in the Forest of Dean, those with disabilities and carers to remain full active members of the community.

If you live in the Parishes of English Bicknor, Lydbrook or Ruardean and you are elderly, disabled, frail, or even lonely; we may be able to help you.

What do we do?
  • We have a subsidized travel scheme – a door-to-door service for hospital or GP appointments, to clubs and for shopping or visiting etc.
  • We have a subsidized gardening scheme. Our gardeners will mow grass and tidy gardens.
  • Aids for the disabled loan scheme. You can also buy our aids or just try them out. Wheelchairs for holidays, outings, pot-ops or for visitors.
  • There are three luncheon clubs – at Lydbrook, Joys Green and English Bicknor – with speakers. No age limit here. If you want to meet friends or get to know others, come and join us. We can help with transport.
  • We provide chiropody and library facilities at the luncheon clubs
  • Do you need help in completing forms which are difficult to understand?
  • Are you receiving all the benefits to which you are entitled? We have made a lot of difference to peoples’ lives, helping them to obtain benefits they did not realize they could have
  • Access to a computer.
Would you like to join us as a volunteer, a driver, a dog walker, a lunch club helper or as a gardener? There are always jobs to do. It’s good to keep our village communities alive and caring for each other.
